Philipp Niethammer is an assistant member in the Cell Biology program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), NYC. He received his Ph.D. from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Hamburg University in 2004. After a postdoc at Harvard Medical School, he started his lab at MSKCC in 2011. In 2014 he was named American Asthma Foundation Scholar. His lab utilizes intravital imaging approaches in zebrafish to study the chemical and mechanical signaling mechanisms that leukocytes and other cell types utilize to detect and respond to pathological perturbations of tissue homeostasis, such as epithelial damage.
