Kodi S. Ravichandran received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from India and his PhD from University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He then did his post-doctoral work in Boston at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School. He is currently the Harrison Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia. His laboratory focuses on the steps by which apoptotic cells are quickly and efficiently removed in the body, the molecules and mechanisms involved, and how defects in cell clearance can lead to tissue inflammation and specific disease states.
